ABOUT HERITAGE HOMES SUPPORTIVE LIVING
Our goal is to offer housing that promotes dignity, autonomy, and peace of mind without imposing stringent, over-bearing supervision or programmatic requirements. We believe that housing is the foundation for stability and positive, more vibrant communities. Our mission is to provide safe, stable, affordable, and respectful housing that empowers individuals to live independently and build a foundation for their future. We are dedicated to fostering a calm and dignified living environment where our residents feel secure, valued, and most importantly, at home.
OUR STORY
Heritage Homes Supportive Living was created to expand access to safe, stable housing for individuals experiencing housing instability. The organization was founded by Amanda Barkley-Freeman & Richard Freeman, Jr.
Amanda is a housing professional with more than 20 years of experience in social work and housing stabilization. Amanda has spent years helping residents navigate housing challenges, behavioral health needs, and barriers to stability.
Through this work, she recognized the urgent need for additional supportive housing options throughout the Pittsburgh region.
Heritage Homes was created to help address this gap by providing safe, dignified housing environments where individuals can stabilize and move forward.

Heritage Homes was born from direct, on-the-ground experience with the housing crisis in the City of Pittsburgh while Amanda worked as a Resident Services Coordinator. She witnessed firsthand the daily struggles of an underserved population caught in a cycle of housing instability. The critical gap in the market was clear: a profound lack of affordable housing options integrated with the support services necessary for individuals to not just live, but to thrive.
Richard Freeman, Jr.
Co-Founder & Co-Owner
Richard has always been interested in entrepreneurship and how he could bridge the gap between business and social justice. When his wife, Amanda, proposed her idea for Heritage Homes he immediately saw the vision and offered his corporate accounting and finance expertise to make her dream a reality.
